Personally, I don't, and that suits me really, but then that means I don't get paid for the holidays. Crying or Very sad

I sometimes think though, that working in the holiday, when you're not having to serve classrooms, must be really useful to crack on with those jobs that you never get round to doing and don't start because you know you'll not have the time do them properly/finish them. It certainly must make for a more organised and effective department.

I didn't used to but my new contract is for term time only + 5 days. Those days are supposed to be the INSET days and twilight sessions but I have arranged that it will be INSET and a couple of the days in the holidays.

The way this school pays us is our wage is divided by 12 so we still get paid even during the holidays could you maybe ask about this?

Hi yes, sorry, I wasn't clear. I do receive monthly payments, the same as you mention, I meant that my salary was pro rata, so although I receive pay, I don't actually get paid for any holidays, like teachers do. I think some other non-teaching staff did used to get their holidays paid, or at least some of them, as they were on older contracts, but I think, with the last pay and grading exercise no one is paid across the board now, for the holidays, except teachers of course.

That's a good idea.

I work term time + 5 days to cover inset and 5 days flexible during the holidays which is really handy to get up and running for the new school year without a lot of interuptions.

We don't work in the holiday - it saves them money - but I tend to come in a couple of days, and then take them off in term time when I want to.
Not working in the hols does mean we have to buy in things we would in the past have made, especially certain solutions and bits of equipment, so probably on the whole doesn't save that much money!!
